I received an email that asked me for my GavelSnipe username and password.

GavelSnipe.com will never send an email requesting username or password information. Such emails are known as phishing scams. They are intended to allow unauthorized persons to gain control of your auction accounts. If you receive an email claiming to be from GavelSnipe.com requesting username or password information, do not click any links or enter any personal information. Please forward the complete email to support@gavelsnipe.com for further investigation.

My snipe failed to execute. What happened?

GavelSnipe may encounter problems on an auction site that can cause a snipe to fail to execute. Network delays and server timeouts can cause the sign in page or bidding page to not respond. GavelSnipe is designed to continue attempts to sign in and bid during the user-defined snipe buffer until a bid is placed or the auction ends.

eBay has security measures in place to detect weak passwords. This security measure can cause your snipe to fail because the eBay log in process is interrupted by the weak password notification. Click here for tips on creating a secure eBay password.

eBay randomly uses captcha verification codes. These codes require human intervention to proceed with the sign-in/bidding process. Captcha verification codes will cause a snipe to fail because GavelSnipe is unable to sign in and bid.

How does GavelSnipe work?

GavelSnipe automates the process of snipe bidding and gives you the best possible chance of winning the auction. GavelSnipe can be used on any Internet computer. Type or copy and paste the auction URL into your GavelSnipe account, enter your bid and youíre ready to snipe. Itís that easy!

GavelSnipe is FREE!

Why do I need GavelSnipe?

A Heritage Auctions or eBay auction runs for a number of days after it is posted. Competing bidders either place a maximum bid (known as a proxy bid) or continue to bid until the auction is being won. This process continues until the auction ends. This "bidding war" drives the gavel price of an auction up.
To avoid the "bidding war" some bidders prefer to wait until the last seconds of an auction to avoid showing their hand to competing bidders and raising the price of the auction item. This style of bidding is known as "sniping". Sniping can be an effective way to win auctions at lower prices but it has some disadvantages. Auctions may end at inconvenient times and one must be online at the end of the auction in order to snipe. Competing snipers may have a faster Internet connection than yours. If sniping isnít timed just right, you may be outbid or time on the auction may run out before your bid is accepted.

How do I join?

What are the terms for using GavelSnipe?

Please read the Terms and Conditions before using the website. Use of the GavelSnipe web site means you agree to the Terms and Conditions.

What is the difference between GavelSnipe bidding and eBay proxy bidding?

The difference between GavelSnipe bidding and eBay proxy bidding is stealth. GavelSnipe only bids for you in the final seconds before the auctions end. Only you know that your bid will be placed. eBay proxy bidding, while hiding your maximum bid, will display your competing bids until your maximum bid is winning or exhausted. This enables other bidders to compete with your maximum bid. This could result in loss of the auction or a less desirable winning bid.

What is the best strategy for using GavelSnipe?

We suggest that when you use GavelSnipe, you set the maximum bid to the maximum amount youíre willing to pay. GavelSnipe will always try to win the auction at the lowest possible price less than or equal to your maximum bid.

Will GavelSnipe win all my auctions?

GavelSnipe will significantly improve your chances of winning auctions by bidding for you automatically. No longer will you lose auctions because you forgot to bid or were unable to get to a computer at an inconvenient time or place. Your maximum bid will also determine how successful your automated snipes will be for any given auction. Be sure to bid the maximum you are willing to pay and let GavelSnipe do the rest!

Is it possible to lose the auction if my maximum bid is greater than the other bids?

There are occasions where the high maximum bid may fail to win an auction. The most common reason is a maximum bid that falls short because of the bid increment rule. Your maximum bid may be higher than the current winning bid but lower than the amount of the bid increment. For example, if the current bid of an auction is $30 and your maximum bid is $30.58, you still won't win the auction because in this case eBay required a bid increment of $1. Your maximum bid would have to exceed $31 to satisfy the bid increment rule. Please go to http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/bid-increments.html for more information about eBay bid increments. Your bid must be equal or higher than the next increment to be recorded. These increments are variable depending on the current bid.
eBay may block a bid because of special auction requirements. The seller may require pre-approval of bidders, the seller may not ship to your location, a PayPal account may be required or there may be a violation of eBay special regulations such as those that pertain to ticket events. For more on these special eBay rules, go to http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/event-tickets.html and http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/bidding-ov.html#bigtix.
A username or password change without a corresponding update on GavelSnipe can also cause bidding to fail. In rare cases, network traffic problems could cause a bidding delay or failure.

GavelSnipe sent me a message saying my bid was too low, but it was higher than the final price, how can this be?

eBay bids follow bid increments.

If I have placed a manual auction bid and then use GavelSnipe, will GavelSnipe try to outbid my original manual bid?

GavelSnipe will bid for you but in most cases that will not cause you to bid against yourself if your manual bid satisfies the bid increment rule. Learn more about bid increments at http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/bid-increments.html.

Will GavelSnipe keep bidding until a reserve is met or just until it outbids the current high bidder?

GavelSnipe will keep bidding until the bid meets the reserve amount. From there it will win the auction at the lowest price possible below your maximum bid.

Will GavelSnipe bid the whole amount of my maximum bid, even if the whole amount is not necessary to win the auction?

GavelSnipe will only bid up to the amount required to win the auction.

What happens if two GavelSnipe users bid on the same auction?
